Backblaze Gives Tight Competition for its Rival Cloud Storage Service Providers with Aggressive Pricing

FREMONT, CA: Backblaze, provider of robust, scalable low cost cloud backup and storage services brings in low cost cloud storage service, Backblaze B2.  The cost comparison givenin the company websiteshows an open competition with Amazon S3 and the cloud storage services part of Microsoft Azure and Google’s Cloud Platform.

As per the current status of the company,it claims to incorporate backup data worth around150 petabytes and about 10billion files on its servers.  When asked about the reason for this new launch by the writer, GlebBudman,Co-Founder and CEO, Backblaze said that since it is a bootstrapped company it was too expensive for it to buy existing servers so Backblaze built its own storage pods and software early on.

“Over the course of the last years, we spent 90 percent of our time and energy on building out the cloud storage and only 10 percent on the front end,” says Budman.“Because the company now has a very stable backend system, many of its users asked about getting direct access to not just use it for backup but also to store data through an S3-like API.”

According to the reviews given by sources, the biggest advantage of Backblaze B2 is its pricing.  It costs $0.005 per GB of storage, compared to the palns extended by Amazon’s S3 and Microsoft Azure which rates around $0.022 per GB and Google Cloud ($0.020 per GB). B2 beats Amazon's Glacier and Google's Nearline for granting immediate access to data. As of Amazon S3, the company provides developers with API to integrate B2 with their own apps and services. Furthermore, initial 10GB of storage is free for the users also with free uploads while downloads are charged at $0.05 per GB.
