CloudRouter Releases Version 2.0 of its Router for SDN Infrastructure

SANTA CLARA, CA: CloudRouter, a Linux based open source routing and SDN (Software Defined Networking) project, releases version 2.0 of its CloudRouter which is a software based router designed to run on physical, virtual and cloud environments supporting SDN infrastructure. This upgrade brings new packages to broaden the key functionality for the integration of Open Source network and SDN technologies and is a release for production use.

The key features of the CloudRouter 2.0 include network OS based on CentOS 7.1’ ONOS 1.2 and OpenDaylight lithium for SDN; security monitoring for DDoS and DOS detection and analysis, mininet design for SDN prototyping, container support like dockers, CoreOS Rkt and OSv; lightweight BGP routing through ExaBGP and performance improvements for ODL and ONOS.

The latest release of Cloud Router has improved and redesigned various existing components. It is now based on Fedora 22 from Fedora 20, along with the new CentOS 7 distribution. It has also improvised its security and fixed the bugs that were previously noted in the CloudRouter 1.0.

"The rapid success of the CloudRouter Project has been due to the collaboration among different development communities. By helping software developers connect with network hardware manufacturers, we have accelerated adoption of new technologies by enabling bridges to legacy architectures or the testing of hundreds of virtual routers in minutes," says Jay Turner, Project Lead, CloudRouter.
