FREMONT, CA: HCL Technologies Ltd, India’s fourth largest software services exporter, on Monday said it will launch an incubation centre for the Internet of Things in partnership with Microsoft Corp. in Redmond, Washington.
The center will focus at building advanced solutions based on machine-to-machine (M-2-M) technology, in areas such as industrial manufacturing, life sciences and healthcare through industrial automation, remote patient monitoring and fleet management, among others.
HCL Technologies’ IoT Works is a front-runner in the field of ‘Internet of Things’ enabling organizations to experience and leverage IoT solutions. It offers end-to-end solutions for organizations across different levels and has three phases; define, build & run, to help design enterprise IoT programs, develop systems and manage uptime of enterprise systems.
"One of the most transformative trends affecting businesses today is the Internet of Things," said Susan Hauser, Microsoft's corporate vice president of Business and Corporate Responsibility. As part of their work at the incubator, Microsoft and HCL will enable companies to accelerate IoT adoption through industry-specific solutions built to deliver new revenue models, improved business insights, and faster ROI. All of these are critical to staying competitive in the digital economy, she says.
It's not the first time Noida-based HCL has partnered up with an industry giant. In September 2015, the firm has collaborated with IBM to develop remote monitoring, smart inventory management, smart building and facilities management. HCL is co-developing IoT solutions with close to 15 IoT startups.
Prior to this, Microsoft also, in November 2015 promised to provide $120K worth of Azure credits-Microsoft’s public cloud platform to startups working on solving urban issues like education, logistics and services.
